WEN 4225 8.6-Amp Variable Speed Floor Standing Drill Press, 15-Inch

To begin with, the WEN 4225 is aesthetically attractive making it nice to use and handle. It comes fitted with a stroke that measures 4 inches which makes drilling much easier than you expect.

The best part is:

The stroke cuts through 4 by 4 boards like never before. In addition to that, it is now possible to adjust the speed of the drill tanks to the flexibility of the drill. The speeds can be adjusted from between 280 revolutions per minute (rpm) to a staggering 3300rpm making it one of the most powerful drill presses available.

What’s in the box?

One WEN 4225 8.6-Amp Variable Speed 15-Inch Floor Standing Drill Press, and if you dig deeper in the box you will find a manual. The manual is worth of gold since it is very detailed.

Dimensions and specific features

Another great thing is:

The digital readout reports the current RPM of the machine for increased accuracy when drilling.

The chuck with Morse #2 spindle taper accepts bits anywhere from 1/12 to 5/8 inches in size.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • This is the best drill press from WEN because it is a power tool that deserves its category as such.
  • The 4-inch stroke increases your versatility and productivity in the workshop.
  • The digital readout displays the machine’s current RPM.
  • The adjustability of the table promotes operator efficiency.
  • This power tool boasts a solid build.

Cons:

One of the WEN 4225 drill press reviews says the little spring-loaded pin on the end of the chuck key makes it difficult to tighten the chuck, but the component is designed to prevent accidentally leaving the key in the chuck.

Conclusion and review

When it comes to this drill press, I only have words of praise. It was easy to assemble because of the good instructions. It has a smooth and quiet motor with minor vibration on the table. I absolutely love the variable speed control and RPM digital readout! The chuck, bearings, and alignment is spot on.

The thing which amazed me:

There is a depth gauge with a depth stop AND a retraction stop. You can set both and just move the bit up and down rapidly if you’re making several holes.

To sum up:

Backed by a 2-year warranty, the WEN 15-Inch Drill Press offers years of service plus a reliable functionality that is simply awesome. The large-size chuck holds a variety of bit sizes so you can be more productive and do more types of drilling jobs in the workshop. A really great drill press!
